Synopsis:
Manson begins the book by bemoaning modern culture's unreasonable demands. Many people's lives are consumed by the pursuit of the "American Dream." Be the best in every way: richer, more handsome, leaner, funnier, happier, more admired, and so on. It just goes on and on. This is standard self-help advice, and it all focuses on one thing: what you lack. Your flaws, or how you perceive them. When we only think on what could be better in our life, it acts as a constant reminder of how far we have fallen.
